剪輯(Film editing)，即將影片製作中所拍攝的大量素材，經過選擇、取捨、分解與組接，最終完成一個連貫流暢、含義明確、主題鮮明並有藝術感染力的作品。從美國導演格里菲斯開始，採用了分鏡頭拍攝的方法，然後再把這些鏡頭組接起來，因而產生了剪輯藝術。剪輯既是影片製作工藝過程中一項必不可少的工作，也是影片藝術創作過程中所進行的最後一次再創作。法國新浪潮電影導演戈達爾：剪輯才是電影創作的正式開始。
