這幾個還算說的通。 不過以我個人對作者意圖的揣摩，上述都有些不符。 明月說他這書是歷史，只不過描述的手法不同。中文裡說故事，可行。但英文中story，就由杜撰的成分在裡面。An account or recital of an event or a series of events, either true or fictitious,而且A usually fictional prose or verse narrative intended to interest or amuse the hearer or reader; a tale. 有為了引人入勝而杜撰的成分。 這和歷史（至少是有據可查的資料）想違背。明月的書，也完全是歷史，因為書裡的材料都有考，但很多結論性的話，還是帶出了作者個人的情緒，有些段落還很濃厚。 其實真實的歷史，有的時候原因很簡單，有的時候真相一點都不好看。 因此我個人有一個譯法：The Narrative History of Ming Dynasty，或者： Ming Dynasty： The Narrative History。 narrative本身是描述，有些許故事成分，但不完全。而史學家narrative history真是一種描述歷史的手法。 以事件年代為線索，用文學手法，以故事架構敘述歷史，力爭在歷史和故事之間達到一種平衡。 這和『明朝哪些事兒』的風格是契合的。

用英文介紹明朝那些事兒

1344年到1644年這三百年間關於明朝的一些事情，以史料為基礎，以年代和具體人物為主線，並加入了小說的筆法，對明朝十七帝和其他王公權貴和小人物的命運進行全景展示，尤其對官場政治、戰爭、帝王心術著墨最多，並加入對當時政治經濟制度、人倫道德的演義。
