足球場地比賽場地必須是長方形，長度90—120米，寬度45—90米，球門高2.44米 ，寬7.32米，足球用皮革或其他適料製成，圓周不長於70釐米不短於60釐米。 2017年12月1日，《公共服務領域英文譯寫規範》正式實施，規定足球場標準英文名為Football Field或Soccer Field。2021年2月，中國國家體育總局、國家發展改革委聯合印發《關於加強社會足球場地對外開放和運營管理的指導意見》，提出到2025年，社會足球場地全面開放。
