比喻是一種常用的修辭手法，用跟甲事物有相似之點的乙事物來描寫或說明甲事物，是修辭學的辭格之一。也叫“譬喻”、“打比方”，中國古代稱為“比”、或者“譬（闢）。著名文學理論家喬納森·卡勒為比喻下的定義：比喻是認知的一種基本方式，透過把一種事物看成另一種事物而認識了它。也就是說找到甲事物和乙事物的共同點，發現甲事物暗含在乙事物身上不為人所熟知的特徵，而對甲事物有一個不同於往常的重新的認識。依據描寫或說明的方式比喻可分為“明喻（直喻）”、“暗喻（隱喻）”、“類喻”、“借喻”、“對喻”、‘博喻”、\簡喻”、“詳喻”、‘引喻”、“虛喻”。
