蟬（拉丁學名：Cicadidae），別名為知了，是半翅目蟬科動物。 蟬的幼蟲生活在土中，有一對強壯的開掘前足，利用刺吸式口器刺吸植物根部汁液；頭部寬而短，具有明顯突出的額唇基；有3個單眼；觸角呈須狀，口器細長，口器內有食管與唾液管，屬於刺吸式。分佈於溫帶及熱帶地區，棲息於沙漠、草原和森林。知了殼具有疏散風熱、利咽開音、明目退翳、息風止痙的功效。 唐代虞世南的《蟬》寫道“垂緌飲清露，流響出疏桐。居高聲自遠，非是藉秋風。”蟬還可以作成紅燒知了。
