約旦

約旦，全稱雜湊姆王國（The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan），位於亞洲西部，阿拉伯半島西北，西與巴勒斯坦、以色列為鄰，北與敘利亞接壤，東北與伊拉克交界，東南和南部與沙烏地阿拉伯相連，西南一角瀕臨紅海的亞喀巴灣是唯一出海口。國土面積8.9萬平方公里，全國人口1023萬（含巴勒斯坦、敘利亞、伊拉克難民），官方語言阿拉伯語，通用英語。 1921年，英國以約旦河為界，把巴勒斯坦一分為二，西部仍稱巴勒斯坦，東部建立外約旦酋長國。1946年3月22日，英承認外約旦獨立，5月25日改國名為外約旦雜湊姆王國。1948年5月，第一次阿以戰爭中，約佔領了約旦河西岸4800平方公里的土地。1950年4月，外約旦同西岸合併，改稱約旦雜湊姆王國。1967年，第三次阿以戰爭中，以色列佔領西岸。1994年10月，約同以色列簽署和平條約。1995年2月9日，約收回被以佔領的約340平方公里失地。 約旦地勢西高東低，西部多山地，東部和東南部為沙漠，屬亞熱帶地中海型氣候，自然資源主要有磷酸鹽、鉀鹽、銅、錳和油頁岩和少量天然氣。
