我國很多學者都提出過亞健康的評價方法或診斷標準，其中陳國元、陳青山、劉保延、陶茂萱等學者提出的評價方法或診斷標準具有一定的影響力。2007年，中華中醫藥學會發布了《亞健康中醫臨床指南》，從中醫的角度對亞健康的概念、常見臨床表現、診斷標準等進行了明確描述，產生了較為廣泛的影響。 中華中醫藥學會發布的《亞健康中醫臨床指南》指出：亞健康是指人體處於健康和疾病之間的一種狀態。處於亞健康狀態者，不能達到健康的標準，表現為一定時間內的活力降低、功能和適應能力減退的症狀，但不符合現代醫學有關疾病的臨床或亞臨床診斷標準。
