新加坡人口與人才署釋出其最新人口資料，截至2011年12月，新加坡總人口526萬，比前年增加了約8萬人；其中，新加坡公民327萬，永久居民54萬，非居民146萬，分別佔62%、10%和28%。新加坡公民主要以種族區分：華族（漢族）為242萬，佔74.1%；馬來族為44萬，佔13.4%；印度族為30萬，佔9.2%；餘者為歐亞裔/混血，佔3.3%。 新加坡華人基本源自中國福建、廣東和海南等地，其中四成是閩南人，其次為潮汕人、廣府人、客家人、海南人、莆田人、上海人等等。主要宗教為佛教、道教、伊斯蘭教、天主教、基督教和印度教。“Singaporean” 是指新加坡人，新加坡的，新加坡人的加點新加坡口音就是Singa'porean（重音坐在後面嗷）。
